Convert Markdown to HTML

HTML tags typed in the Markdown are shown as text, and javascript: links are removed, so the output is safe to paste into a page.

Turn a README, notes or a post written in Markdown into HTML you can paste into a CMS, an email template or a web page. Check the result in the preview before you copy it.

Convert Markdown in three steps.

01

Paste Markdown

03

Copy or download

Copy the HTML fragment or download a complete .html page.

About

Which Markdown does this support?

The converter follows GitHub-flavoured Markdown, the variant used by GitHub, GitLab and most documentation tools. It covers headings (# and underlined), bold, italic and strikethrough, inline code and fenced code blocks with a language, links, images, bare URLs, nested and numbered lists, task lists, blockquotes, tables with column alignment, horizontal rules and line breaks. Reference-style links ([text][1]) and footnotes are not supported.

The HTML fragment has no styles; it takes the look of the page you paste it into. The downloaded .html file adds a few basic styles so it reads well on its own.

Code blocks

```js blocks get class="language-js", so syntax highlighters such as Prism or highlight.js pick them up.
Tables
Pipe tables with :--- alignment become <table> elements with align attributes.
Task lists
- [x] items become disabled checkboxes, as on GitHub.
Safe output
Raw HTML is escaped and javascript: links become #, so pasted content cannot run scripts.
