Audio Tools FAQs
Common questions about converting audio in the browser.
No. The Audio Converter decodes and encodes files with JavaScript and the Web Audio API in your browser.
Any format your browser can play. MP3, WAV, AAC/M4A and FLAC open in all current major browsers; OGG and Opus open in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and in Safari depending on the version.
MP3 at 96 to 320 kbps, or uncompressed 16-bit WAV.
Files up to 300 MB are accepted. Very long recordings need a lot of memory once decoded, so recordings of more than about an hour may fail on phones.
