About

Scanning QR codes without a phone

QR codes often turn up where a phone camera is no help: in a screenshot, an email attachment, a PDF or a picture on your computer. This scanner reads the code from any image, or from your webcam, using the open-source jsQR decoder in your browser. Because it shows the content instead of opening it straight away, it is also a safe way to check where a QR code leads.

The scanner reads QR codes only. Other barcode types, such as EAN on products, Data Matrix or Aztec codes, are not recognised.

From any image

Screenshots, photos and saved images; large photos are scaled down for speed.

Live camera

Uses the rear camera on phones and the webcam on computers, and stops once a code is read.

Wi-Fi codes decoded

Network name, password and security type are shown separately.

Check before opening

Links are displayed in full, not opened automatically.
