Animated or still GIF, up to 50 MB

Split an animated GIF into separate images: pick the frame you want as a still, or download every frame as PNG or JPG in one ZIP. Each frame is the full picture, not just the part that changed.

About

Why GIF frames need rebuilding

To save space, most animated GIFs store only the part of the picture that changes from one frame to the next, plus instructions for what to do with the previous frame. Cutting those pieces out directly gives you fragments with transparent holes. This tool plays the animation the way a browser does, drawing each piece over the last and applying its disposal rule, and saves the complete picture at every step.

GIFs use a palette of at most 256 colours per frame, so the extracted images have the same limited colours as the original. Converting to PNG does not add detail.

Complete frames

Every image is the full frame as it appears on screen, at the GIF's original size.

PNG or JPG

PNG keeps transparency; JPG gets a white background and smaller files.

Frame timings

Each frame shows how long it is displayed, from the GIF's own delay values.

Every Nth frame

Keep every 2nd, 5th or 10th frame for a quick contact sheet or a lighter set.
